The National Volleyball League has partnered with nonprofit PlayFit Foundation, Inc. in an effort to give back to the community on a national level. PlayFit Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a goal of enhancing the lives of young people across the United States through exposure to athletics and beach volleyball.
Playfit Foundation in conjunction with the NVL will host it’s first event on February 8 at 4:00pm-5:30pm at Loomis park on 8th & Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. This free “Grow the Game” clinic for kids 8-18 will be hosted by the legendary Sinjin Smith, NVL Champion Casey Patterson, Team Miami Kelly Schumacher and Gretchen Duffner-Hand, and the Florida International University sand volleyball team. There will be a beach clean up from 4:00pm-4:30pm then the clinic from 4:30-5:30pm. Proceeds will benefit PlayFit Foundation and Irie Foundation.
Sinjin Smith, known as the biggest promoter in the sport and integral member in the development of PlayFit Foundation, Inc. states, “the PlayFit Foundation serves a very important purpose in our ever changing society where many kids don’t have the opportunity to play sports on a regular basis or even have the initial opportunity to be exposed to sports. I know how important it is because I am convinced that being exposed to sports and having the opportunity to play sports shaped who I am today. I am happy to help build this organization so that it can reach more kids and help grow the game from the junior and collegiate level.”
National Volleyball League founder Albert Hannemann states, ” We are thrilled to partner with the PlayFit Foundation as it will allow us to help kids become more active across the US using beach volleyball. Through these “Grow the Game” clinics our NVL athletes will serve as role models teaching them life lessons and the importance of health and nutrition.”
“The goals of the PlayFit Foundation are consistent with the purpose of USA Volleyball. Growing the game through safe and fun programming for kids benefits our sport and the host communities.” Comments USA Volleyball Managing Director of Beach Programs, Dave Williams.
